Video of me...SWIMMING! 8/12/10

(Momma says she was so excited...she sounds really silly!)

My First Day of Kindergarten

I was super excited on August 25th---my first day of KINDERGARTEN!
Momma said it was a 'practice' day...but it was still fun!
Roxy gave me a kiss!
I showed my teacher that I could write my ABC's and I knew all the sounds too! I even counted to 100 all by myself...we ate lunch in the cafeteria and sat on the little round stools...we could not play outside because of the rain.
After school, Momma and I played at the park...and she took me to Goodberry's for vanilla icecream with sprinkles...yummy!
(Roxy was glad to see me when I got home.)
Momma asked me what was interesting at school...and I said that one of my teachers was wearing 'pan tee hose'...
(she thought that was really funny!)
Vanilla with Rainbow Sprinkles!

First Day of School...

(Momma heard this read on the radio this morning...and says it reminds her of me!)

I Trust You'll Treat Her Well

By Dan Valentine

Dear World,

I bequeath to you today one little girl in a crispy dress with two blue eyes and a happy laugh that ripples all day long and a flash of light blond hair that bounces in the sun when she runs. I trust you'll treat her well.

She's slipping out of the backyard of my heart this morning and skipping off down the street to her first day of school. And never again will she be completely mine. Prim and proud she'll wave her young and independent hand this morning and say "Goodbye" and walk with little lady steps to the schoolhouse.

Now she'll learn to stand in lines and wait by the alphabet for her name to be called. She'll learn to tune her ears for the sounds of school-bells and deadlines and she'll learn to giggle and gossip and look at the ceiling in a disinterested way when the little boy 'cross the aisle sticks out his tongue at her. And, now she'll learn to be jealous. And now she'll learn how it is to feel hurt inside.

And now she'll learn how not to cry.

No longer will she have time to sit on the front porch steps on a summer day and watch an ant scurry across the crack in the sidewalk. Nor will she have time to pop out of bed with the dawn and kiss lilac blooms in the morning dew. No, now she'll worry about those important things like grades and which dress to wear and whose best friend is whose. And the magic of books and learning will replace the magic of her blocks and dolls.

And now she'll find new heroes.

For five full years now I've been her sage and Santa Claus and pal and playmate and father and friend. Now she'll learn to share her worship with her teachers which is only right.

But, no longer will I be the smartest, greatest man in the whole world. Today when that school bell rings for the first time she'll learn what it means to be a member of the group with all its privileges and its disadvantages too.

She'll learn in time that proper young ladies do not laugh out loud or kiss dogs or keep frogs in pickle jars in bedrooms or even watch ants scurry across cracks in sidewalks in the summer.

Today she'll learn for the first time that all who smile at her are not her friends. And I'll stand on the front porch and watch her start out on the long, lonely journey to becoming a woman.

So, world, I bequeath to you today one little girl in a crispy dress with two blue eyes and a happy laugh that ripples all day long…and a flash of light blond hair that bounces in the sun when she runs.

I trust you'll treat her well. .

Sylvester and the Magic Pebble

Momma read me one of my favorite books...again...tonight: Sylvester and the Magic Pebble.
I had some good questions...
First of all, 'when Sylvester turned in to the rock....why didn't he just roll over to touch that red pebble and change back in to himself?'
'Do rocks sleep?'
(Momma said that rocks don't sleep, but since Sylvester was the rock, he could sleep.)
'Right. Just like the flowers sleep in the winter time and wake up in the Spring...'
'I don't want to be a rock, because then I'd be away from you...'
(That made Momma smile and give me hugs and kisses!)
Good Night!
(Momma says I have to get on a schedule for school...'I don't like schedules...')

Night Swimming

I learned to swim on August 12...Bobby was very very patient with me...I got my face wet...then I put my head under...Momma found my purple goggles! Once I did not get water in my eyes, I put my whole self under...and I was swimming! Here are pictures of me, Bobby and NaNa from that night! Everyone is sooo proud of me!

My Summer Pictures...

Hi!
I am 'Little One'...and this is my blog.
Momma helped me make this for all my family and friends who live out of town that I don't get to see too much...
I have had a good summer! I got to see Bobby and NaNa a LOT! They are very loud...but I can be just as loud!If I scream REALLY loud, I can usually get their attention.
Bobby taught me how to swim! I am so proud of myself!
Once momma got my goggles on right,I swam and swam and swam! Floaty wings are for BABIES!...and 'I am NOT A BABY! I am a BIG GIRL!'
(I don't want to jump off the diving board...but Momma says that is OK with her.)
I start kindergarten soon...I am very excited!
